Camelot Entertainment Group and DarKnight Pictures announced that they have signed a deal with A&E for the worldwide television rights to Never Sleep Again: The Elm Street Legacy.

"Freddy Krueger's legacy is timeless," commented Camelot President of Distribution, Jamie Thompson. "BIO is the perfect place to dig into the film and character's history, revealing the creation of the ultimate nightmare."

Sheila is the nerdy girl of Springwood High. She has asthma, drives a moped and invents things. She studies hard so that she can get into medical school. It is her who needs a doctor when Freddy decides to give her his own special kiss of death. Played by Toy Newkirk

An update on the "dead" Friday the 13th sequel doesn't offer much promise for an Elm Street 2. It actually backs up some of the fears I expressed in last week's site update.

ShockTillYouDrop has learned that "Platinum Dunes [is] taking baby steps away from the horror genre with plans for a Monster Squad remake and an action film... Read full article here.

Debbie is many things. She is a friend, an excercise enthusiast, a fan of Dynasty and she is terribly afraid of bugs. Once Alice, Dan and herself decide to rid Elm Street of Freddy Krueger once and for all, she is put to the test by Freddy himself, only to find herself unable to check out of her dream. Played by Brooke Theiss

The truth is... Platinum Dunes does not seem to be fond of sequels. They have made a total of 8 films, and have only made one prequel and zero sequels so far. We do know that director Samuel Bayer said he would not return for an Elm Street 2, and that Jackie Earle Haley has agreed to do at least two more films.

There was a lot of talk about a Friday the 13th follow-up that never materialized, and Dunes lost the rights to The Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchise -- basically the company's history says an Elm Street sequel is unlikely. Keep your fingers crossed!

Artist Jason Mecier created a portrait of Freddy Krueger out of 500 pieces of Red Vines licorice! The Springwood Slasher joins Kim Kardashian and Taylor Lautner as part of Mecier's candy art gallery -- created for "We Like to Watch TV", a new San Francisco art show.

Movieweb.com asked Jackie Earle Haley about a possible Elm Street sequel and of course he said he would return.

We already know that Haley signed a contract for three films and that director Samuel Bayer said he will not return.

Rodney Eastman from A Nightmare on Elm Street 3 is currently starring in the 2010 remake of I Spit on Your Grave. Eastman plays "Andy" -- who I assume is one of the rapist.

Here is a YouTube video originally posted on Indie Wire. A Nightmare on Elm Street in 10 Minutes:

"It presents all six original Elm Street films plus New Nightmare and Jason vs. Freddy in a rapid succession of quotes recited and partly restaged by original cast members, including Heather Langenkamp, Robert Englund, Lisa Wilcox and Wes Craven."

From DVD Active:

Warner Home Video has announced DVD ($28.98) and Blu-ray/DVD Combo ($35.99) releases of A Nightmare on Elm Street for October 5th. As far as we know, the only extra material on the DVD release will be a Freddy Krueger Reborn featurette. The Blu-ray release will include that, along with a Maniacle Movie Mode, an Alternate Opening, an Alternate Ending, a Deleted Scene, and a digital copy of the film.
